Redington Beach Family Sunset Photography
There's just something about an outdoor sunset beach session that makes it easy to forget you're being photographed. The sound of the waves crashing in from the gulf, fresh breeze and warm sun on your face is the perfect recipe for a relaxing experience in what could otherwise be kind of stressful! My favorite part is that the children have room to run and explore and giggle as loud as they want.
Redington Beach is a great option for family photos if you are looking for something a little less crowded compared to some of the other gulf beaches in the St. Petersburg area. Children are free to explore the shoreline, collect shells, and interact with their parents without a million other people to distract them from enjoying the scenery.
The light and the clouds were absolutely to die for this night! You never know what you may get with the sunset, but this one did not disappoint.
Something you'll hear me talk about constantly is the light. It's at the heart of all my work and it's the basis of every photograph. A photograph defined is literally a light drawing and I consider my portraits light paintings because just about all aspects are brushed with the mouse during the editing process to refine and shape it into art. You could have the ugliest location, but good light and connection between your subjects can create beauty.
There's a difference between a snapshot and a photograph that stops time for a fraction of a second. There's a delicate balance between knowing when to direct and when to step back and let interaction unfold.
This shoot is such a great example of what to wear for your sunset beach session.
- Mixing stripes, and patterns creates visual interest
- white and navy are always a classic for beach portraits
- No shoes required here!
- coordinate, but don't match
One of my favorite parts about shoots is styling! You are always welcome to reach out and I would love to help you with outfits and coordinating. Outfits don't need to be extravagant or stressful, the more your clothes fade into the natural environment rather than taking center stage with flashy logos or busy patterns the better. Years from now, you won't be looking at the clothes, you'll want to study every line on your mother's face and feel the joy she felt in that moment.

Say hello.
Let's work together.
